When to write GRE?
For admissions, during fall 2022, there are two options, the first one being October. The timing is perfect as it offers you ample time to prepare for other examinations or even re-taking the GRE if needed. Eliminating GRE earlier itself helps to smooth the preparation of remaining competitive exams. Preparing for SATs, TOEFL and IELTS require a longer duration of the study with minimal distraction. Thus, October is convenient to prevent missing any deadlines. The second option is calculating two months before the first deadline of the university in a pool of your choices. It is a better date for someone confident and thorough with the GRE syllabus. Chances of re-attempting the GRE might increase pressure due to other paper works. Overall, there is nothing to worry about if you prepare well enough. These two dates are ideal for an applicant to process remaining documents (statement of purpose, letter of recommendation, write SOPs, create portfolio) and take TOEFL.
Why are the dates ideal?
Processing LOR and SOPs consume a lot of time, hence they should be done at the earliest to prevent any complications. Also, there are fewer chances of clashing events and deadlines with the exam dates. Another point to consider, after writing GRE is that it usually takes up to 15 working days for your official results to be sent to you. Until then one should be wrapping up other procedures within the first deadline. Normally from December onwards, applications should start to be sent to universities of choice. Upon finishing all this sit back and wait for the college's response.
Where to take GRE from?
Recently GREs can be conducted at the comfort of your homes. It was to minimize human exposure to the Coronavirus. Yes, some people have taken advantage and are cheating during the exams. No need not worry about scores when you are sincere during the exam. Statistically, the GRE is taken by 600,000 people yearly. Malpractice by few individuals will not bring a significant shift to the overall score average. Apart from that, GRE is not the only criteria colleges investigate when considering an applicant; projects, SAT, TOEFL are included when shortlisting.
Conventionally, when taking the exam, one should be in a distraction-free environment to focus more. Suppose your home is suitable to provide an examination room atmosphere no need to go for test centers.
For GRE at home, one needs to have:

⦁ PC or Desktop
⦁ Speaker and Microphone
⦁ A good webcam
⦁ Electricity _
